- Prepare 1 cup of rice (cooked, perfect for leftover rice).
- You need 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds.
- You need 1 of salt.
- You need 1/2 tsp of tumeric powder.
- It's 4 tbsp of curd or yoghurt (i usually make mine at home, dont like ready made?.
- You need 3 of green chillies (optional).
- You need 1 small of onion, chopped.
- Prepare 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped.
In the state of Tamil Nadu it is called thayir saadam, and in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh it is called daddojanam. In Karnataka, it is called mosaranna. Add salt and sugar and keep aside. Now heat oil in a pan.
Curd rice step by step
- Add about a table spoon of oil into a pan and add the cumin and mustard seeds, let it cook until they start to sizzle and add the onions. Cook until transparent.
- Add the garlic and allow to cook for approc 30secs, add the curd, salt, chillies and tumeric powder. Mix until salt is dissolved. Add the rice, mix it all up until the rice is covered. Allow to cook for about 1 minute. Voila, the rice is cooked. Pairs up with anythinnnnngggg or can be eaten on its own.
